Tra Vinh: Master Plan for Dinh An Economic Zone

A ceremony to announce the master plan for Dinh An Economic Zone (EZ) until 2030 as per Decision No. 15131513/QĐ-TTg dated 05/9/2011issued by the Prime Minister took place in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh on October 17. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, representatives of ministries, central agencies, leaders of provinces and cities in the region and Ho Chi Minh City and more than 90 domestic and foreign investors have attended the ceremony.

Covering a total area of over 39,000 hectares comprising land area of Tra Cu commune and Duyen Hai commune, Dinh An EZ borders Provincial highway No. 914 in Long Huu province, Hiep Thanh province (Duyen Hai commune) and Kim Son province (Tra Cu commune) in the North, Hau river and Dinh An estuary in the West, and East sea in the South and Southeast with total shoreline of 42km length. Dinh An EZ is a multi industrial area focusing on industry, trade, services, tourism, agro-forestry and fisheries connected with the marine-based economy, plays as one of eco-social center in Tra Vinh province and Mekong Delta, as gateway for international maritime trading and an importation transportation hub of the Mekong Delta and the southern coastal region. Total area preserved for phase 1 development of Dinh An EZ to 2020 is about 14,403ha and for the phase 2 development to 2030 is about 39,020 ha.

At the ceremony, provincial authorities announced investment incentive policies and signed agreements with Ha Long Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company, Ham Giang Construction Company Limited, Hoang Quan Consultant Trading and Tourism Joint Stock Company etc who invest in constructions projects of Ngu Lac industrial zone, an oil refinery industrial zone, a non-tariff area, an urban area of Duyen Hai commune, and Long Toan port complex etc respectively

Addressing at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan praised Tra Vinh province for its great effort in establishing Dinh An EZ and investors who have already made their investment in. So far, 11 investors have been granted licenses to implement projects in the economic zone. Some key projects are being executed such as Tra Vinh Canal, Duyen Hai power plant, upgrading and expansion projects of National Highway Nos 53, 54, 60 leading to Tra Vinh province and within the economic zone, Tra Cu port, Dinh An residential and aquiculture service area.
